Patch Tarot

A deck of virtual cards that helps jolt you and constrain your creativity in making synth patches.

Like Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategies, or the “Patch” card game.  You don’t need to own a modular synthesizer to play this game, only a Playdate (or download the emulator).

Once you start shuffling the cards by turning the crank, the deck becomes purely "your own".  How fast you crank determines how much that deck is shuffled, and before long, your deck will be as different and unique as you are.

The Patch Tarot will give you 3 cards, which will direct you to a synthesizer patch that the goddess Eris has requested you to build.

Synthesizer not included.

The four suits are:

• Vibes - Feelings or genres.  Fluffy and ill defined.
• Techniques - Things like filter pinging, sampling and synthesis
• Constraints - Limits that force you to be creative
• Targets - Are you making a bass drum or a synth pad?

NOTE: I do not have a playdate (yet!) so I cannot test this on a real device.  Performance should be fine, but I am worried about the font size.
